Announcing the Manitoba Farm Mentorship Program!

What is the Manitoba Farm Mentorship Program?

Thanks to a partnership with Heifer International Canada, the Organic Food Council of Manitoba (OFCM-COG) and a dedicated steering committee of farmers, gardeners, past farm interns and members of the Harvest Moon Society and the Farmers' Markets Association of Manitoba have developed the Manitoba Farm Mentorship Program with the needs of Manitoba's smaller-scale and organic farming community in mind.  Please continue to check this page.  It will soon be updated with more detailed information.

Getting Involved

Whether you are an aspiring or seasoned farmer, a supporter of the program, or a land-owner or other service provider, there are a number of ways to get involved with the Manitoba Farm Mentorship Program.  Please contact us for more information about any of the options below.

1.  Mentoring Opportunities:  We're currently seeking mentor farmers, so if you're a farmer or gardener and think you'd like the opportunity to teach what you know, please contact us.  The program will focus on organic and other environmentally sustainable production techniques, small-scale farming, market gardening, and urban agriculture.

2.  Sponsorship/Donations:  This program has a strong community focus.  We want to involve as many members of the local community in a diversity of ways, and sponsorship donations is one of them.  We are currently seeking community support for the Mentorship program from businesses, organizations, individuals, and groups.  If you would like to know more about the opportunities we have available, please contact us.

3.  Partnerships:  The program resource guide and land-link listing are ways for the broad community to reach out to local and aspiring farmers.  We are currently developing these resources, so if you have an opportunity you'd like to promote to Manitoba's food producers (processing, marketing, and distribution opportunities, classes, entrepreneurial ideas, financial assistance or other services), or land that you would like to make available for sale, rent, or exchange, please contact us to be listed.

4.  Mailing list:  If you are interested in participating in the program in the future or being updated as development progresses, please contact us and ask to be put on our mailing list.

Informal Mentorship Opportunities

While the program is under development, we will continue to promote informal and formal mentorship opportunities as they arise, so please check back.
