Below is an overview of our mentors for 2012. If you are interested in contacting one of our mentors, apply for our internship program. Your $30 application fee gives you access to our full mentor listing - a detailed profile indicating what each mentor expects from and offers to interns. We also connect our interns with funding and training opportunities, including the New Farmer Challenge.
Our mentorship program is geared towards people who live in and intend to farm on the Canadian prairies. We direct other interns to national and international mentorship programs including SOIL and WWOOF.

Almost Urban Vegetables
12-acre sustainable, CSA and market garden, located in St. Norbert. Certified under Local Food Plus, and using simple greenhouses and other season extensions, as well as vermicomposting, and laying hens. One internship spot available between May to mid-October. Commitment required: 3-5 months, 6 hours/day, 5 days/week. Stipend, room and board included. |

Blue Lagoon Organics
27-acre certified organic farm located in St. Francois-Xavier. CSA, field crops, 4-season greenhouse, market garden, laying hens, meat birds, turkeys and ducks. Two internships available between May and October. Commitment required: 2-6 months, 8 hours/day with farmers’ markets, 5.5 days/week. Stipend included.

Blue Sky Farm
Sustainable and natural farm located in Sanford. 160 acres with 30 bison and 800 chickens in summer. 2 internships available from May to end of October, working a minimum of 3-4 hours/day. Room, board, meat and vegetables provided. Stipend negotiable.

Boundary Creek Farm
80-acre non-certified, trust organic, sustainable/natural farm with 8 acres under vegetable production, located in Winnipeg Beach. Animals for meat and value-added products, CSA, greenhouse, market garden, and subsistence farm. Two internships available between May to October for a minimum of 4 months. Commitment required: 30-40 hours/week, with three-week trial period. Stipend included. |

Braman's Greens
180-acre market garden catering to chefs, with 50 chickens and 2 goats located in East Selkirk. Non-certified organic farm using natural/sustainable methods on 3 acres plus greenhouses. Minimum commitment: 4 hours/day, 5 days/week, starting May/June and ending in September/October, with possible winter work available. Stipend included.

Coyote Ridge Farm
Certified organic farm located in Canora, Saskatchewan. 11 quarter sections, 7 in organic grain and 4 in pasture, 65 cow-calf pairs. Internship available for a minimum of one growing season, and no longer than 6 months between May to November. Minimum wage in exchange for working every possible day during seeding and harvest seasons; time off during non-peak periods to be negotiated.

Harborside Farms
800 acres of non-certified, trust organic, sustainable/natural farm located in Pilot Mound. No chemicals used. Animals for meat and value-added products, greenhouse, mixed farm, subsistence farm. One full-time internship available April/May to November, and three part-time internships available: April/May, June/July, or August/September. Stipends included.

Interlake Meadows Farm
240 acre mixed farm in Gimli with grassfed Galloway beef, u-pick berries, pastured chickens, and a market garden. Two internships available anywhere from 1 to 7 months between end of April and November, working 5 days/week. Stipend available.

J Berard Garden
Certified organic operation located in Notre Dame de Lourdes, with 2 acre market garden, 1/2 acre small grains and vegetable seed production, and 28 acres alfalfa hay. Two internships available from end of April to end of November, and one internship from July to September, working 8 hours on weekdays, and at market every other Saturday. Stipends included.

Jonathan's Farm
4+ acres located near Winnipeg Beach with trust organic vegetable CSA and market garden. 1-2 internships available starting April/June and going until late September/October. Commitment required: 45 hours/week. Stipend included. |

La Finca
1.5 acres of non-certified organic farm with vegetable CSA, market garden, field crops, greenhouse, laying hens, and small meat chicken flock. Up to 3 internships available for one weekend to 6 weeks between mid-March and mid-October. Commitment required: 6 hours/day, 5 days/week or full weekend. |
Landless Farmers Collective
0.6 acres wih possibility of expanding, located on public land in River Heights in Winnipeg. Trust organic, pedal-powered CSA with part-time, full-season internships preferred from May to mid-October.

Littlepath Farm & Market
2 acre market garden, 400 pastured poultry, 50 freerange turkeys, 8 acres fenced for pork, total area is a quarter section. Sustainable, chemical and pesticide-free farm located near Minnedosa. Two internships available for a maximum of 5 months between May and September, working Tuesday through Saturday from 7am - 2pm. If intern stays, a stipend will begin with market sales in July. |

Parkland Ridge Farm
1100 acre farm, including 800 mainly in forages, 200 acres of bush, and 100 acres mixed bush and sloughs. Located near Minnedosa, integrating beef production with conservation, environmental considerations, and sustainable land management practices. 2-5 month internship available between June and October, working 5-6 days/week and 8-10 hours/day. Room and board provided, in addition to stipend based on age, experience, and level of commitment. |

Stonelane Orchard
Sustainable, natural, pesticide-free farm located just 1 mile east of Steinbach. 65 acres with 25 acres in cultivation, free range chicken to be introduced in 2012. Up to two internships available between April/May to October for a maximum of 6 months. Room and board available for one intern Monday-Friday. Work hours in spring are 8:30 to 5:30 Monday-Friday, extended to 6:30 am during picking season. Stipend available based on experience and commitment.
