2011 Winners

Thanks to funding from the Assiniboine Credit Union, we were able to offer paid on-farm internships and other training opportunities to four New Farmer Challenge winners in 2011: Kristine Askholm, Colin McInnes, Anneliese Schoppe, and Kalynn Spain.

How to Enter

1.  Complete our regular application process for interns. Be prepared to spend a minimum of two consecutive months living, working, and learning on the mentor farm.

 

2.  Write a maximum 500 word entry that describes your farm dream. Include this in your Intern Application Form or in a separate email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Consider the following questions in your response:

  • When do you intend to start farming?

  • What do you want to grow or raise, and how?

  • Why have you chosen Manitoba as a place to settle, and what part of the province appeals to you?

  • What is standing in your way of achieving your dream?

  • How will the New Farmer Challenge help you to surmount those barriers?

3.  The Intern Application Form, farm dream description, and $30 application fee must be received before 11:59pm on March 30th, 2012. Deadline extended to April 22, 2012.
